This rather nice old thing, running spot on suddenly got worse. Was lying on a window sill for 3 days, there were sign of dial problems but this happened over night. Glad I didnt sell it as planned last week, bet buyer would be less than satisfied

    Black dial. Sunlight. :(

Black absorbs all wavelengths of light and converts it into heat. White reflects all wavelengths so stays cool.

Just leave white dialed watches on the windowsill in future.

    ;)

Was it lying behind anything like a bottle or a glass ornament on the windowsill that could act like a magnifying glass?

If you know what you are doing, you can humidify the paint and lay the flakes back down. If you don't know what you are doing, it will end up a mess.
