Deluxe victim to the scrappers

Saw this for sale in amongst a watch lot. When I asked what happened to the case he said he melted it for the gold. My heart shattered when I heard this...given how specific the case reference is for the deluxe dial, it will probably never be united with the right case and is destined to end up as a franken

I'm surprised he didn't melt the dial and hands as well. He probably missed that they are solid gold as well

I recently bought a watch at a street fair which turned out to have a donor steel case. The original case was rose gold. Sad the case got lost but I really like it as it is, it works perfectly, I was told it had been serviced, and right now it’s the watch I’ve been wearing the most.

It is the perfect beater then. Sad but it is also nice to see such a nice dial put back into use

Still beautiful. I really like it. Wear it in good health and stay safe and well, especially in this time of Covid. Has anyone called dibs?

Thanks gentlemen for the kind words and good wishes.
I must admit the dial and chunky case were so beguiling to me that I bought it without giving it too much thought.
The case is a generic, non Longines case, but it looks so similar to Longines cases of the same era that it completely fooled me.
@McKinley one member has already called dibs but yours is duly noted, thanks for the kind appreciation.

That is a nice looking piece for sure. Congrats. Technically, dibs has been inquired about, but not yet called. So, dibs!
