I love the 166.073 SM120 aka "The Deep Blue", but havn't followed it's pricing for some time.
On yesterdays WatchesOfKnightsbridge auction, this one sold for £5.500 without commission. Perhaps I'm out of touch with the market, but they usually go for around £1.5-2.000 IF all original and with bracelet. And this one hasn't got the correct bracelet and the lume of the dial/hands/bezel is far from the best I have seen. They don't come up for sale that often, but are not rare as such... Did someone think this was a rare SM300 or something???::screwloose::

Like mine even better now ;-)

That's silly money. Could've bought something way better with that.

I made an offer on one a few days back. They countered with $2500 USD. No bracelet, in fair condition. I passed.

Sold mine 4 years ago 1600€ serviced, mounted on Omega mesh bracelet + OEM stainless steel bracelet (don't remember its reference though) .... which was a good price for both parts I think.

No way will I spend 3K+ for the same watch nowadays !

So here's my Deep Blue. All $2250 worth......

Anyone know why mine has the "120" on it vs the ones above? Looks the same otherwise.

Do I have me refs wrong??????

No, the 166.073 came both with and without "120" on the dial. Early ones without 120. Caseback was also different. And they also came with black dial and bezel...

I think these are awesome watches and hugely under appreciated.

When compared to the SM300 I think these are far more stylish watches (beauty is in the eye of the beholder)

As far as I know, some were issued to the IDF pilot but none to the french navy. I'm pretty sure of this as some of my collectors friends are dedicated to the french navy issued watches ... and no SM120 appear.

    For instance : http://www.pikore.com/i_merlin13

Michel is a member with a close connection to the "Arsenal de Toulon" where Marine Nationale (french navy) watches were serviced, he owns an extensive collection of issued watches and get access to the former service papers. See, no Deep Blue. I guess you got wrong information of this present matter ;)

You could be right, I was sure I had seen one issued by the French Navy but I could be completely wrong, it has been known! There was a NOS one for sale some time back on watchesulike with M.N. Markings on the case back but now I can't find the pic.
