Just got a call from my local boutique. Seems Omega "found" a couple of Apollo-Soyuz Speedys laying around.
I had my eye on a GSOTM but a brand new Speedyorite would be a great addition. I can only afford one. What would you do? BTW, I'm leaning toward the Apollo-Soyuz. Asking price is about the came. Thanks.

Ya, I get it. Tough choice. I thought list on the Speedyiorite was $8800.

Let the enablers add pics of their watches to sway you. Heck, I think there are several that own both.

go for the speedyiorite...the "ceramic whatever sides" just started to show off they will stay for ages but the speedy will vanish some day.
Is there another one free to pick up?

Only 1775 Speedyorites made. @watchme makes the best argument for going with a Speedyorite.

But then I totally get superdoc's point.

    1975...pieces..
I think that now that Omega wholesale (authorized dealers) and Retail (boutiques)
Are both under the control of the same man, the Soyuz that had been NOS for ADs are being taken and given to Retail to sell to interested clients...
A big argument for Soyuz is the fact that they are selling at original MSRP!
The dial alone is Worth ~6k...
If this model were released today, it would easily be priced above 10k...
Once stock is completely out, this one will appreciate in Value...
You could always get a Greyside later...

Decided on the Soyuz. The first was already sold when i got there. Two more coming in on Friday. Bought and paid for. Will pick mine up Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Had never seen one "in person". WOW.

I am told they will have a total of three. One already sold, one for me. 3rd should be available and arrives on Friday with mine.

You are going to win either way, both are fantastic. My gut says Speedyorite, I have both, but $8800 is full retail and then some. The last NOS one I saw, at Tourbillion in South Coast Plaza (Costa Mesa CA) was $8000 I believe, and that was about 7 months ago, wouldn't be shocked at all if they still had it, as it wasn't on display. Might want to check, but as RJ says, retail (i.e. boutiques) and wholesale (i.e. authorized dealers) are being much better aligned these days, but stock is not flowing freely between the two, not yet anyway.

If you can get a NOS Speedyorite at a fair price, that would be hard to beat.

edit: boutique is telling you the Speedyorite and the GSOTM are roughly the same price... that doesn't sound right. GSTOM retail is 12k, Speedy is $8k. Secondary market prices are different of course.

Does not take much to enable each other here, heck if we keep going we can get @tpatta to buy both watches.

I found an AD in Barcelona earlier this year that was willing to sell me a GSOTM for 6800 euro (after VAT refund). Didn't pull the trigger. Will be back there in July and if he still has it.............
