Also goes back to the durability and cost savings of SS vs WG. But WG has that extra pop.

The new ceramic dials are quite stunning IMO. I always prefer a black/white dial with a steel coloured case, never been a fan of gold watches personally.

I think the black dial one looks pretty fantastic.

There is something about that leather strap on the Daytona that is really eye catching...

Sorry I dont think i was much help!

Love the new Daytonas, otherwise impossible to obtain without paying the big premium. Add $5,000 or so to those prices.

I love the white ceramic variant, but I'd be quite content if I were you with your WG version. Looks fantastic.

I was able to fondle a white ceramic at my local AD a few weeks ago. It is truly beautiful. But, sadly, it was promised out and on hold for a way better customer than myself.

Is the black dial version less popular?

May I suggest the 5 digit zenith variant......they are rising rapidly in price...rapidly.

If it were me, I would go for the ceramic bezel. Maybe put yourself on a wait list and by the time you can get one, maybe the love for the WG will be less? It could go the other way too but at least you will have options.

I've got the 116519 and it's a beautiful watch to wear. As @speedy57 said, the white gold definitely has that extra pop. Mine is on the brown strap and I'm going t get a couple of extra's - a black croc for formal and then maybe rubber or perlon to dress it down.

You asked for thoughts, here are mine:
    - I like that the new ceramic Daytona avoids the big chunky numbering of other modern ceramic bezels
    - I personally think of any chronograph as a Sports / tool watch, and so I prefer SS with brushed surfaces
    - A friend showed his white ceramic Daytona at Christmas and the PCL's make the watch a little too 'flashy' for my taste (for a chrono...)
    - At a retail price point > $12k USD, I personally would choose other watches rather than the Daytona. At the ~$20k USD aftermarket price I would certainly stay away, seems like a bit of excessive fan-dom driven pricing at that level.

Normally I would argue strongly that the only time 'my opinion' matters is in my own personal buy-or-not-buy decision making, but you asked for it...

Yes it is! I would love a 1977 Daytona 6263 'big red' (NOT a Newman) but this watch scratches the itch nicely, and for so much less of an investment. This watch I happily wear on a regular basis without concern for damaging a rare collectible (mine is a modified dial, not the real LE).

If got a theory. Everyone sees Daytona owners staring at their watch for extended periods. Therefore they must love the watch. I posit it just takes forever to actually read the darn things...
