According to Hodinkee, via contact with RR Auctions, the final cost to the buyer, all-in, was $US 1.625 million.
"The Bidder acknowledges and agrees that a 22.5% buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price on all individual lots sold in timed Auctions (the "Buyer’s Timed Premium”), and a 25% buyer’s premium will be added to the hammer price on live Auctions (the "Buyer’s Live Premium,” together with the Buyer’s Timed Premium, the "Buyer’s Premium”)."

Premium premium?

I'm thinking the person that is willing to spend $1.3 million dollars on a watch is not too concerned about the premium added to the final price regardless of how it's calculated.

If it weren't quartz, but still reasonably priced (~3k, 3.5?) it'd certainly be on the list of Modern Watches I'd Like to Own But Still Consider A Waste of Money, Mostly 😀

Angled date window and "262 kHz" text on bottom sub-dial are annoying.

Can you imagine if Ed White had worn a Bulova instead of a Speedmaster? We could have been looking at this beauty.😎

Thank you for the account. I wish more of these auctions were watchable online.

Not only flown but it spent time on the Moon! And it's a watch. Gotta be big differences.

what could one possibly ask more ...?
