My friends, the time has (finally) come to take a swing at dating again. Rather good backstory to the whole thing, but the heart of the issue is this: I'm traveling to Ft. Wayne, IN to take this woman on our first date and wondered if anyone is from around that area(?)

There is a particular reason that we already know we'll be having some tacos at her favorite Mexican joint, but we need a before/after dinner activity or two while we talk and laugh and have a big goofy time.

Calling you Ft. Wayners out there! Help! She's pretty great, just want to put the best foot forward I can with some pre-planning 🥰

Good for you! We used to drive through there on our way to Indianapolis for the F1 race. Auburn is North of Ft. Wayne and has the Auburn Cord Duesenberg museum. But if she’s local, let her make the plans and enjoy.

This was not the topic I expected. So I just wanted to say that I'm finding myself more in the no-date camp these days. It's just too much trouble to set the date and the window destroys the symmetry of the dial. And don't get me started on magnifiers. 😁

You can have a date without altering the dial’s symmetry.

Amazing that you just happened to have that photo at-hand, Steve. Must be from your extensive "Watches & Fruit" collection. Fantastic watch, BTW.

Ask her how she feels about OCD behavior, vintage watches and debt beyond her wildest dreams. If she’s good with all of that, marry her.

Ok, credit for going this length for a pun. You have my utmost commendation!

She understands OCD quite well. Don't know if she cares much about watches, but she's very good with money and budgeting. Impressive gal

I clicked expecting another debate about placement of date windows on watches only to find you happen to be coming to literally the town I live in. Wild.

Lots of options in FW. Depending on when you're here (i.e. if stuff's open or not), good places are:

1. FW museum of art
2. Conservatory/botanical gardens
3. This amazing place—while strange+a 20 minute drive from downtown—is incredibly fun, even if you don't like pinball.
4. Komets game (if you like hockey)
5. Fort Wayne Curling Club (if they have a beginners night the day you happen to be here); yes, curling's oddball, but it's MEGA fun, even if you've never done it before.
6. Indoor golf, if that's yr bag.

Etc etc etc. I know there's an axe-throwing place, too, but can't vouch for it. Feel free to drop a line if you've got more Qs or anything.

Went for steaks. @Wlcutter I did take her to the pinball arcade just for something silly to do. Must've worked, she saw fit to give me a little smooch or two

Danced her in the headlights and then we went and picked up her daughter & took them home.

After that, drove over two hours (exhausted) to be closer to the airport I was flying out of in the morning (today). Sitting in ORD on layover now

When’s the next date?
Stopping back through on the 16th. Then, coming back down on the 25th for her daughter's holiday dance recital. Will bring them some Thanksgiving plates from back home since they have no real plans for that. In fact, she's working Thanksgiving. Poor girl works really hard

These are great ideas. I have been with my wife since we were 17, so my dating experience is limited. For a first date, I invited her to take a walk around a lake in a park with my dog. She thought it was great, and 30 years later we are still together. My view of dating is that you should do things you would enjoy doing regularly in life, not some big show to impress. Good luck @64Wing, it sounds like you are smitten. I'm happy for you, she sounds like a keeper.
