Hi guys, hopefully you can shed some light on this matter. I recently purchased a 1175 bracelet with the latest type of clasp. After studying the well know bracelet chart the production should have stopped around 1978. But it seems like a date has been stamped/engraved inside the clasp "12-81", suggesting december 1981. I have seen dates in other 1175 clasps within the 1970-1978 time window, but also some of without a date. So could this be an official date stamp? Everything else about the bracelet looks to be original. Thanks!

 

Looks good. I wouldn’t stick to the chart as there is some information missing. The chart only suggests what might have been fitted to a Speedmaster but bracelets were fitted to many different models.

 

I’ve seen a couple of these JB ‘1175’s’ with date stamps into the early 80’s.

Perfectly legitimate.

Although it's legitimate I'm not sure it was standard fit on a Speedy Pro into the 80's as they'd transitioned to the 1171 by then.

With it only being the JB versions that are seen this late (as far as I'm aware) I wonder if it was only used in certain locations (i.e. US).

 

Interesting point, because I bought this in the US.
