·I’ve been wearing my Omega Speedmaster Professional daily and have been following a specific winding routine to ensure I never wake up to a stopped watch. Since the Speedmaster has a 50-hour power reserve, I wanted to keep it running without having to fully wind it every day.
My Winding Method
Every morning, I wind the crown 20 turns. I chose this number because:
• A full wind (from zero) takes about 50-60 turns.
• Since the power reserve is around 50 hours, I figured 20 turns per day should keep it going indefinitely.
This method worked fine—until today, when I woke up and saw my Speedmaster had stopped. 🤔
I’m now wondering if my routine was slightly under-winding the watch over time, leading to a gradual depletion of the power reserve. Maybe I should do a full wind every few days instead? Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
