From Japan it will be put on a weather balloon and floated over to Hong Kong at 60,000 feet. From there to the eventual ground destination, unclear..

This actually made me laugh out lou

When I first read the story of the balloon I asked my wife if Wiley Coyote is running China’s intelligence community.

Knowing my shanked up karma, your reply seems perfectly logical.

Why do I feel like we have been through this game before

Just excited to countdown the days until I receive it back, and something else is then wrong with it.

Latest from Hong Kong...

the work has begun.

Must say, properly pissed off/yet politely firm & factual too has netted me some stellar communication from NG at this point.

Hey @SC1 did you ever get your Nivada Grenchen watch back from Hong Kong? It's been almost two months and I don't remember seeing an update about your ordeal.

My last update from their customer service is dated "February 20th" and reads "We will update you daily... "
I've since written them six times without reply.

So no... nothing back, no watch, nothing at all.

Wowsers. No legitimate excuse for that.

Yep, my disappointment is pretty deep currently. I would bet all is going to work out in the end but as an experience it hasn't been cool at all.

I recently had a similarly disappointing customer service experience at the end of a house renovation. There were some problems with the installation of high-quality wooden windows and a door, and the related communication on the part of the company has been extraordinarily poor. I still owe a significant balance on job, and, if I actually do ever pay it, I plan to make them wait for the same period of time that I have been awaiting a resolution (five months and counting)!

That is really piss poor 'customer service'. Usually these kind of situations eventually resolve themselves but the road can be long and frustrating. Good luck.

I had thought of this recently myself. Promising daily updates is setting yourself up for failure. Unacceptable either way. Sounds like you have a good attitude about it. It’ll work out. Reading the thread on Gallet’s service may make this seem better by comparison.

Just received an email from Nivada Grenchen -- watch is serviced and currently undergoing final testing, ships out to me next Tuesday.

Finger's crossed and god willing the river don't rise...

That's certainly good news. But with your run of luck US Customs will open the parcel and monkey around with the chronograph and bugger it back up.

I got a watch-sized package from them a week or so ago that breezed right through Customs. Only took 3 days to get here once it left Asia.
