    Hi all,

I'm only new to this forum and I am curious about a (1960s?) Seamaster I have put a deposit on at an antiques store.
I have been looking around to try to find any information about this particular watch but I can't find any seamasters with the word Seamaster written above geneve on the dial.
Any and all help and information would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

It would be nice to have a look inside and assess the movement.

Otherwise it looks pretty straight. This model was produced in the Geneva factory prior to its closure and the Geneve appellation was dropped when production moved to Bienne and models like these were branded De Villes. Yours looks like a 166.002 powered by a cal 565. They also produced a very similar model powered by cal 613. You dont see all that many of these around.

What are they asking for it?

    Cheers

I have a Seamaster 600 ref. 136.011 that looks very similar to this. It has a cal. 611 and is from ~1964. I too would like to see inside this...looks like the crown has been replaced and not sure if that's an origional Omega crystal. It looks like it would clean up OK but $850 is very strong for this.

Thank you for that, I know that the back of the watch (not sure what it is called) doesn't have any markings it's just flat.
Is that something to be concerned about?

It does look very similar, but the back of the seamaster I'm looking at has no markings at all, just a plain (stainless steel?) back

The Hippocampus could have been easily polished off...or worn off.

Yep, 850 is very strong. I would think under 500 AUD.

    Cheers

.... or more likely wasn't there to begin with. ;) There were still a few of these 60's models that had plain steel case backs.
