Crystal Tension Ring cal 620 in 511.213 Case

Quick question...one of the watches I'm working on is an Omega Deville manual wind with a 620 movement in a 511.213 case. When I disassembled the watch it had no tension ring on the crystal. Is this case/movement combo supposed to have a ring?

Thanks in advance.

I serviced a little geneve in this case for the missus and can confirm that there is no tension ring for this crystal, nor would there be as this is not a waterproof/water resistant case.

There are some 620 powered cases out there that are waterproof and those do have tension rings, but your biggest hint will be is the caseback snap on or screw down, and is there a case tube or does the crown have that little spring loaded dust shield when you pull the crown out.

If its screw down and has a gasket, and it also has a case tube its likely rated for the 30m water resistance (that I would have a pretty hard time trusting these days) in which case you would also expect the crystal to be armored or at least some other way for it to have a proper seal.

Cousins list the crystal as:

Glass, Acrylic Non Armoured, Omega 062PN1016

so it doesn't have a tension ring.

Thanks. Since I don't know the history of the watch, I was thinking I may have once had a crystal tension ring. The watch had an Omega crystal on it when I got it with some scratches which I managed to get most out but there are some deep stubborn ones that I can't get out even with 400 grit so I'm going to leave them until I track down another NOS crystal.

Ha....that's what I;m doing with the DeVille....trying to get in running for the wife. The dial on the watch I have is pristine...its actually the reason bought it. I'm somewhere on the learning curve of trying to get it running now.

other than being tiny, I think these 620's are great to learn on cause they are fairly cheap in comparison to mens watches.

at this point the missus may have more omega's than me...
