/me waves

I came across this site while trying to work out if I have a missing part on an old Geneve and thought I’d join.

A bit of background; I am an amateur watch repairer / spring pinger / screw dropper and I’ve recently progressed from repairing ‘ restoring cheaper watches to more expensive brands, including Omega.

I’m here mainly for watch repair type forums and, hopefully, contribute to general repair questions.

Welcome! I just recently started dropping screws, pinging springs, and breaking things. Breaking things seems to be my primary skill so far regarding watch "repair". Definitely some knowledgable technical repairers here. I assume you're already on the WatchRepairTalk forum as well. See you around!

Welcome! I have learned all I know about watches on this forum, and I continue to do so every day.

It's also nice to see people with interest in watchmaking. I feed my carpet with watch parts in my spare time.

Welcome! There is an introduction thread somewhere but most people start a new thread as you have done.

Welcome and watch that holding of breath as you get older, you might just pass out and tumble to the floor bending that vintage cal321 spring you lost a few years prior, which would be a shame......the bending, not the knot on your head....

I find it interesting that I have no trouble working on an 851 in a watch marked Tizzot. But put Omega, Speedmaster, and Professional on the dial...

I actually like working on the seamasters, Landeron chronographs, and A Schild 1194 watches. Would like to find more inexpensive ones as I did in the 1990s. Still there are plenty of interesting things out there. Especially in the Mid and Women's sizes. Would have been a better rule to get complete watches with cases and good dials, but the incomplete ones were such a bargain at the time.

The real question can you fix a Val-72 hairspring with breguet overcoil?

Welcome to these forums, and be sure to check out the watchmaking section. Especially the archives. There is a treasure trove of rabbit holes to wander through...
