Could the Speedy Tuesday 2 website malfunctioning have been avoided

Well there's a well-known saying = Adventor semper rectus !
Customers
should be important for every firm... so get to know your fanbase & regular customers
Omega could try another system with prior registration online in order to get an idea how many watch aficionados are interested to buy a certain time piece... in combination with a visit to an AD to pay a deposit.

Why would they do that? They did a limited run of a special edition watch, and sold them all almost immediately. A certain amount of scarcity and exclusivity seems to go a long way in the watch world.

I believe they already do that, as so many (car) makes do, and know an exclusive circle of high end customers to contact for exclusive articles

On one hand, managing flash sales like this is hard: it's clear that lots of companies have trouble with this, including companies like Ticketmaster who should care enough to do this well; since they have trouble, it's presumably actually hard.

On the other hand, in my experience, this is not all that hard for smart engineering teams who actually care about it. Selling 2,000 watches to a few thousand customers over a few minutes is not a lot of load. I've built large-scale payments systems which can do thousands of sales per second, and while it's not trivial, computers are now really big and really fast, and if you don't need something like this to be up 24/7, the problem gets simpler.

That said, it's not surprising to me at all that a company like Swatch, who, as big as they are, aren't online transaction/service experts, may struggle with this. (And who knows if this project had access to Swatch Group resources or was just done within Omega.) I have had the benefit of working in very technically savvy environments, and I recognize that things that are easy for us may not be easy for all.

Wonder if maybe the mobile site was optimised? I had no trouble tapping the link from Instagram and filling everything out on their browser - since the Speedy Tuesday is social-media themed, maybe they put more resources towards that?
Same for me. I did everything from start to finish on my 6S. It froze a few times but always restarted. The ‘add 5 mins’ also worked for me.

I still have issues with the Ultraman page on the site. It gets stuck on an infinite loop of loading. I can only view it on my phone...

I would not be surprised if more people on the waiting list do receive an allocation though as Omega go through the list and cancel instances of single IPs reserving several watches, people short selling allocations etc.

I sort of hope this happens since I actually like this LE Speedy but at the same time don’t because I don’t want to be out $7k plus tax for a Speedmaster I’m currently on the waitlist so I’m not expecting to get lucky but if my name gets called I’m purchasing.

Refresh the page it’s loading from a corrupted cache.
