Cosmic 2000: Is my dial original or modified?

Hi. I am not too familiar with these cosmic references, but there are indeed a few things to note:
- the text seems off, particularly the Omega and Automatic
- the lume looks weird (is it white paint?)
- the day date wheel has much more patina
- the paint around day date is a bit strange (missing some?)
- some minute marks seem inconsistent (look at the difference between 50-55 and 55-00)
- I don’t see any strong polishing on the case, but there isn’t much too go after in that single picture

That said it’s useful to have a better focused picture, without the hands covering the text.

Looks poorly refinished to me. Too many red flags.

I tried to swap the image for one less compressed. I didn't realize how shaky the text looked in the photo. The forum won't let me post a new image. I was wondering if you watched the video and thought the text looked off. 😕

Can’t really assess the text from that video. I do see what you mean about the “waves” on the dial though in the video. You should be able to add the image back to your post the same way you added in the first place. Click Add Photos at the bottom then insert into your post. Most people will not click the link to your video so you’ll want to add the image back to get more feedback from pros.

Post a sharp picture with good lighting and move the hands away from the text is the best I can suggest!

Hopefully this image is a little better. I have an older iPhone unfortunately and I don't think i have a macro lens.

Something odd with that case. Do you have picture of the back. Usually cosmic cases do not have brushed finish.

I’m not sure about the gradient blue dial: the gradient seems too extreme between dark and light blue. I have a similar example of this reference, but one which I’m sure is all original. Might be a useful comparison:

The only one I could find with a similar dial is the link I provided from eBay. I found some tv dials with similar extreme changes in gradient.

I’m pretty sure they have brush finishes. I have found several examples with the same finish. I’m more so questioning the dial given I haven’t seen one similar to it before.
