Hello would anyone know if the font on this Geneve 9 ct may be possibly correct
as have only seen the more italic slanting version for a watch of this era

Definite redial. As you say, with this age of watch you'd expect cursive text for Geneve. You'd also expect a second track for the small hand. I had that exact model once, 9K UK made Dennison Case. I'll dig out a pic.

OK I take the bit about the seconds track back since my original didn't have one either but here is how it should look. Note the one above has lost the faux pie pan paint effect ring too these had originally:
