Hi,

I have two vintage rolex boxes and I'm trying to find out what box is the correct one for my Rolex datejust 16000 from 1982.

First box has 68.00.01 on the underside:

The second box has 11.00.01 on the bottom side

Thank you for your help!

I posted a chart in your last box thread. There is no definite guide to which box is correct, only guesses. Most ADs usually just grabbed the closest box when selling a watch. It may have or may not have been the correct box.
Im showing a 11.00.71 is the correct box for 1982 DateJust

Thank you, I suspect the same, that ADs used different boxes. I also think a lot of customers left the store without the box and the watch on their wrist..

I have a ‘79 1002 that came in a box like that in the first pic.

In the good old days the watches and boxes were shipped separately. Thus in some cases you can boxes that were a couple years older than the watch. Also it depended on what kind of customer you were. If a date just went out in day date box - these things happened.
