Hi Everyone, I am hoping that someone familiar with the correct boxes for early production Rainbow El Primeros can help me out. I have a 1993 blue dial Rainbow two tone complete with hang tag, warranty card, instruction booklet and box but I suspect the box is not original. The box that I have is in the photos below. The watch is in the safety deposit box but there is a link to the sale thread for the watch that I purchased from an OF member.

I am not sure which version of box was used for El Primero Rainbows in 1993 but 2 different ones show up on internet searches. Does anyone hear know if either of these was used in the early 1990's or was the generic El Primero box, like the one used for the De Luca used for these. I have seen Rainbow sets from the late 1990's and early 2000's with the white cardboard outer and dark green inner box as shown below. I have seen early 2000's sets with the dark green outer box and wooden inner box that is attached at the very bottom. I have a complete set already but if the box I have is incorrect, I would consider purchasing a correct version if priced reasonably. I am in no hurry but just want want to confirm:

    1. Is the box above that I have incorrect?
    2. If so, which box would a 1993 Rainbow been sold with?

I agree that they are both legit but is one of them from earlier and one from later production Rainbow models?

I have a tritium version with the multi-colored dial and orange hand (the rainbow rainbow). I don't know the year. How can you tell? The Tritium version came AFTER the luminova version, counter-intuitively. I bought it from Japan, so it could be the international packaging, and it came in this ugly thing with manual and spare links.

Coincidentally, a nice wood box came up for sale slightly after and a cheap price so I bought it, it included all the booklets

I believe the wooden one is for the later Rainbow Flybacks. Mine is the earlier first generation luminova Rainbow, and not a flyback version.
