Constellation Value Question

Hey everyone. I have the opportunity to buy this Constellation from the original owner/heir.

I am sorry I only have the one picture, but could anyone give me a good Idea of what the value is for this watch?

From the one photo, it looks nice. I'm sure you and the heir can negotiate out a fair price that works for both of you. Do some research using the keywords "pie pan" and "dog leg".

650 to 800 USD if the watch is complete and in good working condition. Especially if it’s SS, bit more if it’s gold.

From my experience lurking around the market everyday, this type of pie pan SS would go for $900-1200 depend on the condition of it. Can’t really tell with just 1 pics but it look pretty good to me. $950 maybe haha

I don't think this is accurate, at all. Maybe a few years ago.

OP, difficult to tell from just the one picture but it looks decent enough to me. The crown is a replacement as the original was the decagonal crown but otherwise looks fine. If you can get it under $1k, you'll have done ok.

I would say 800 to 900...demand of constellation with pipan dial is pretty high these days..your one have original pipan dial along with matching crown. dial also in quite good condition..excellent watch enjoy it.

I realise the angle of photos can distort the look of the case - but those bottom lugs look very short to me.

best to ask for additional photographs.

Dial looks nice - Lumed rather than onyx inserts.
Case is a little soft but more than acceptable.
Crown is a replacement.

@base615 is more or less on the money (if the lugs check out)

I am looking for a similar reference as a gift for my wife (bought one here, 3 years ago, but traded it in) I was shocked about the price increase. I bought mine here for around 800€, now the most in acceptable condition are offered (don’t know if sold) around 2-3000€.
So I am also wondering how much one should spend at moment (not from a dealer)?

if you got a decent SS pie pan dogleg for €800 three years ago, you were still doing well.
I’m not sure where you are looking - and sellers can of course ask what they like - but €2-3000 is not the market price for this reference, unless you are shopping in the West End of London ( or Chrono 24 nowadays)
With a little patience, you should be able to get a good version for (Up to) €1500, or a little more if you go to a (sensible) dealer.

I recently sold an excellent, serviced 168.005 for around that.

I think that’s about right. The $650-$800 USD range that was quoted is WAY too low.
