Hi, I`ve been given that Steel Constellation from one of my Collectors to sell on Ebay. The black is deteriorated and the gold minute strokes in places as well. Gold Hands. ( which look silver in my attempt to use my non existent Macro photography skills for the first time...) Steel Case. Black Dial with Gold Printing. Gold Hands. Has anybody seen that kind of Black Rail Dial before? I think, it is original. But have not seen many.... any help would be appreciated. Kind regards. Achim

I believe that you are the rail-track expert 馃榾 @watchyouwant.
Normally, should it be the gold case?
However, it may be the first one of the black rail-track.

Yes, this is an original configuration.

So, have you seen one before? It's okay, but was worn very often in the Australian Sun..... Has Melanoma ?

This one is currently on its way to me:

So another +1 for original. I鈥檝e also seen examples in a steel case (and given the deteriorated state of the gold-capped case on mind I will likely transplant it into a SS case, too).

Wow, thanks all. They are out there ; just I had not seen one lately. OF is an incredible source of knowledge and verifiable rarities. Off to the Bay it goes..... I did not want to list it without knowing more about it....thanks again! Kind regards. Achim

Luckily it went to the OF private sales section. Then it flew from Australia to Spain. And now I'm super thrilled to have it because it looks even better than I thought!

That's what stands out to me as well and makes it very attractive to me. Someone I spoke to thought it might be the typical discoloration that you can see with gold over time, that you could wipe off with a cloth (which I wouldn't want to do here)

Thanks for playing it fair! Unfortunately @iamvr this one will likely stay for the long term, but I'll reach out in case I change my mind.

Bumping this old thread up to ad one more of this rare species (Not mine, it's currently for sale, you can DM me if you like to know where)
Not a stardust patina as seen before, this has more of a 'shooting star' patina
