    • This one looks to be in a very nice condition and I want to "buy it now" but I'm not sure about the price. I originally did not want to spend over $400 or so for my first watch but I can't stop looking at this one. Plus I keep reading that condition is so important when making a purchase. Thoughts?

As far as price goes, here in the UK that ($750 USD) would be a very fair price for a steel 564 Connie. Constellations will always fetch a premium against a similar date Seamaster.

Not a shabby watch for a half decent price. I'd like it more at $600.

I took for 625! Plus the seller threw in a strap I can use until I find one I like. Next step - omega straps...

Before you spend a fortune on Omega straps, take a look at some of the much cheaper (but still as good) offerings from the other strap specialists like Hirsch, Hadley Roma etc. honestly, some of these firms supply straps to the watch OEMs themselves, so their quality is assured.

This way, you can spend what you save on getting the watch serviced, or buy more watches:)

Hey thanks, Sherbie! I look most definitely take a look! I'd rather not spend a Fortune if I don't have to, but I would like the omega hardware buckles if I can find something suitable.

Omega vintage buckles - well now, that opens up another can of worms, as there are many many fakes out there, and being made now

search this forum - only 1 month ago - there was a really good discussion about this

    best of luck

I looked through this thread - thanks, very helpful, plus there was an angry squirrel thrown into the mix! I think after reading this though that I'll see if I can find a modern, authentic one that complements the watch. OtherwiseI'll go crazy trying to find an authentic, vintage one. Seems like they're not easy to come by.

At first, that's what I thought. But with little patience and a penchant of learning, good pieces came up and ready for grab.
Strong warning......once you taste the victory of grabbing nice piece of vintage.......it is difficult to stop!!!

lol...I've spen the better part of any free time I've had over the last couple of months reading about Omegas but I don't want anyone to pull that squirrel out on me.

I just hope when the one I purchased comes in that I'm pleased with it. I think it was a decent purchase all things considered. I think it may be somewhat challenging to now find a strap that will work with the size of the watch but that is feminine/refined-looking enough that it will work with my little wrist! I'm thinking if I go with a more sleek strap in a super soft and maybe light coloured leather it will have the desired effect, but it will be hard to tell what will work best until I actually have the watch in my hands.

I also need to find a reputable repair person to service it.

I also have very small wrists, and these Omega watches at between 34 and 36 mm diameter work just fine for me. Light-coloured straps get grubby very quickly, that is the problem. I am sure that the members here can come up with good suggestions for watchmakers if you can tell them what area you are based in.

John. I use the same products on my watch straps that I do on the car upholstery. Currently, I am using the Gliptone products such as these:

    http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interior/leather-care/cat_112.html

£15 for the cleaner and conditioner (250 ml) is less than a mediocre strap and sets my mind at ease when wearing a watch with a leather strap that I have bought "used".

My watch should be arriving today! I don't know how I'm goingto concentrate at work today. I can't wait to see it. I've been reading about this particular individual to take it to for a service: http://watch-repairs.vrx.net/
Any posters have any experience with him?
