Today I visited a jewelry store where this Constellation lay. The business is more specialized in jewelry than in watches, nevertheless they have a few nice pieces. The owner told me to have acquired the watch from the widow of a deceased acquaintance. The sales slip comes with the watch, bought by the last and only owner in 1965. The watch was bought in the same city it is in now. To my mind, it looks a bit polished, but as I said, I have not really dealt with the model yet. What do you think of this watch?

    Kind regards, Frank FFA4CA95-DDFA-4B14-9E3F-153594815F60.jpeg 4B363BB6-D6CB-4C1F-98DA-C539387C601C.jpeg E6084234-C6DA-4ABD-82B2-E045ABE23DC7.jpeg

There’s nothing glaringly obvious I can see.
Polished? yes probably but not too much, i’ve seen a lot worse.
The only thing which stands out is the non original crown, - no big deal!
It should house a cal 551 auto movement, anything else would be incorrect.
Nice dial with what looks like onyx inserts in the markers. The case is 14k gold capped.
It’s a nice watch and all comes down to price I suppose.

It seems like a nice piece to me too, the dial is clean. Some signs of wear but it has 50+ years. Overall great watch but some photos of the movement would not go amiss.

As I said. I'm not really on the hunt for a constellation. I happened to see the watch and found it quite nice. That she had only one owner and also the papers are perhaps a nice bonus. However, the price is probably not just low. I say that without knowing the market. The seller wants to have about 1700 € for it.
Of course I would look at the movement if I had a strong interest in buying the watch.

    Kind regards, Frank

That’s double what it’s worth imo.

Agreed - considering it is a domed dial and likely not serviced.

Without knowing the market, this was my feeling, too

Are those nice constellations a new trend ? More and more people are talking about this serie. I'd not buy one but I like it a lot !

Yes definitely a new trend - nothing to see here......

    Of course I’m only joking.
Constellations are very collectible and have been for a long time and have very many devotees - me included.

Omega Constellations are wonderful, and it’s a nice example; albeit at a steep price. Many, arguably - more complete examples ( original crown, linen dial, less polished Geneve Observatory, and original tang/buckle) for less $USD.. spend some time ...and I’d like to see the movement too.
