Bit of a mouthful but this is another vintage Omega coming up at auction very shortly that is worthy of mention for its uniqueness, if not for its condition.

I've seen a lot of pictures of these brick bracelets and most seem to have held up remarkably well, possibly by virtue of them spending a lot of time in their boxes rather than being used on a daily basis, but this bracelet has certainly had a hard and well loved life to it. The dial, is personally not something I would ever buy, having the face of a middle eastern monarch on a watch is just not something that appeals to me, but the diamond layout, and the fact that the portrait has forced the Omega logo and dial text to the six O'Clock position makes it an interesting piece to see and be aware of.

I'd be surprised if it didn't meet its auction estimate of 8,000-12,000 condition not withstanding, but unlike the rather exceptional and beautiful Seamaster Cloisonne in the other thread, this one may be unique, but its not something one could necessarily call attractive.

Not unique. There have been a few versions of this dial style seen in the market over the last ten years or so. I've seen some later ones with cal. 55X dome dials and C-cases as well. I think the Saudi Royal Family had a house account at Omega for such presentation pieces. Now if the original recipient was of historical importance...then all bets are off!

The cloisonne dials are far more rare than these.

    Hope this helps,

Yea I totally agree, probably meant just very rare in this particular form with brick bracelet and hooded lugs rather than unique. As a whole there are a lot of different watches with dead Middle Eastern royalty on them.

No offense to any collectors from the Middle East, but that pretty much ruins the watch for me. I doubt I'd pay scrap value for it.

I share your view, 1 000%. It is a waste to an otherwise spectacular creation from Omega Switzerland.

I have never seen an Omega brick bracelet is such a tattered and torn condition. Very likely, the watch was worn by someone who showed no respect for Omega quality and beauty.

    Thank-you.

This watch just does not have any historical reference for me . It was given as a gift and as such it just does not appeal to one it was not designed or destined for.

One who buys a classic watch with his hard-earned $$ will really value and love his watch. As a gift, it is akin to giving a beautiful flower to a monkey.

That Omega Constellation is attractive, if it comes without any portrait.

    Thank-you.

This one was on ebay a while ago, I would have gone for it if I had the money.

For anyone that's interested, this sold for $75,000 HKD or about $9,667 USD

Not a bad price - the fact that the watch head and bracelet had different types of gold likely held the bidding back some.

That and the bracelet looks like its been rode hard and put up wet. I'm wondering if these bracelets are serviceable and could be tightened up like the Rolex President and Julibee bracelets in 18K where people ship them off to Michael Young in HK and his elves replace the pins and do some other magic then send them back tight as brand new.

Only an elephant can ill-treat and damage such a solid bracelet. It will surely make all enthusiasts feel sick to witness such a tragedy. No passion and love, displayed.

    Thank-you.
