Constellation Electroquartz f8192, any hope?

I am a vintage omega novice. I had my father's 51 Omega automatic restored and wear it everyday it's a Workhorse. I should have stopped there. I won a Constellation Electroquartz f8192 in an online auction. Was told it was running perfectly. By the time I received it, was no longer running. I replaced the battery and it started right up. Later that day I realized how fast it was running. Almost double time. And the research I've done thus far gives me little hope for any resolution. Omega Authorized Repair/Swatch Group returned it with a "sorry can't help you, no parts available" note. But I'm coming to the realization that I am probably the proud owner of a parts watch. I've found no used movements or parts anywhere. Knowing now the full history of this watch and lack of available parts, I suspect I'm just one of a long line of owners of this watch who have posted this lament on this forum. So, is there any hope for these watches as they die?

I wonder if it is a matter of having the right battery installed? I have a Constellation Marine Chronometer which ran perfectly when my local Omega Boutique did the battery change, but at the next change I just took it to the 'watch guy in the mall'. The watch ran erratically (really fast, really slow) for a couple of weeks and I just figured the watch was suffering a mechanical or electronic malfunction. Then the watch settled down to normal timekeeping and ran its usual 10 months before depleting the battery. Something to check on.

Thanks. I have read that the original Renata used in this watch (no longer made) was lower voltage than the currently available cells. Perhaps the battery that was in the watch was moderately depleted but in a more functional range for the electronics of the watch....and. then the battery died completely by the time I got it. Will investigate further by running down a new battery on a lamp or electric motor. Thanks again for the tip.

There's a recent thread on that very model with similar problems. Various options were listed out there, including a replacement circuit.

Hi all

Sorry for the late reply, I will speak with the Jedi masters at STS tomorrow and let you know, I have had similar problems in the past and STS resolved them for me. Could be as simple as a circuit but could be a motor or circuit issue. I think I have seen both for sale recently on Ebay.
