I've been collecting Omegas for about a year now and have now started focusing my collection on 50s/early 60s constellations. One thing that has always been missing from my collection was a deluxe dial but I couldn't seem to find a nice one for sale. While searching for a deluxe I ran into a 18kt 7077 which I could not turn down so I purchased it with a plan of putting it on my black dialed 2852 and calling it a day. Few days after that I was browsing the recommended thread here and saw a beautiful stepped deluxe for sale. I had seen @cristos71 stepped deluxe on a 7077 and it's been one of my grails. Unfortunately, I had already blown my watch budget so off I went flipping a slew of my collection to bid on it. After winning the auction the seller said they would not ship to me in Hong Kong so I had to have the watch shipped to my family in the US and repackaged and resent to me in HK. I've been waiting for the watch to arrive for over a month now, but it just arrived yesterday. Today I went to the omega boutique across from my office today to have the 7077 fitted onto it. I have to say I am quite happy with the result. Worried it may be a bit much as it is a lot of gold but I couldn't be happier with the dial. I have never seen a stepped dial in the flesh before but the way they reflect light is really quite unique. Thanks for reading. Here are some quick photos I took before i had to run to catch a flight. 7077 on 2852 black waffle dial: 2853 on bracelet it arrived on: 2853 fitted on the 7077:
Guess I'll be the contrarian and say that I like the bracelet a lot better on the first watch. While there probably aren't a lot of differences in the cases, I feel that the more modern looking bracelet make for a better pairing with the 2852. That said - WOW! What a couple of watches! And that bracelet is really special
If these are indeed quick & dirty pics, I can only imagine how crazy it looks in real life. That thing lights up a dark room!
I feel less guilty about "helping" you with these acquisitions. You are welcome. to your new additions; really, really nice.
