    Hey team,

I've found a nice looking Connie online, and would appreciate you taking a quick look over it. To my relatively untrained eye, it's looking good.

    Things I can see:
-Box is vintage, but probably not original.
    -Strap is not original
-Dial looks original, but heavily patina'd
-Crown looks original, for this "jumbo hidden crown" model
    -Case looks relatively un-polished
-Movement is Calibre 564 (no photos, and no serial number)

Very tired dial, I'd wait for a better example

    Hi @Eple
as @cristos71 says - that is a bit of a tired Connie

    here goes...
the dial looks correct but totally knackered (with gouges) difficult to tell for sure as the pics aren't hi-res enough
168.004s aren't jumbo -normal sized round cases - about 35mm
the crown is likely a replacement as 04 originals are usually entirely hidden
the bezel is polished (the lugs don't look too bad but have a bit of rounding)
a 564 movement is quite late for an 04 -they're usually found in an 010 -so I'd want to see the serial number (but may have been a cross over between the two)
nice medallion - it has the brickwork observatory -so pushes the date (of manufacture) back bit
of course it could be a 010 -which would fit better -difficult to tell as the lugs are only 1mm wider spaced
    (still wrong crown)
case back looks as though it has been on a wheel

given the condition of the dial - I'd also want to see the movement anyway

if you like chabby-chic and it's really cheap then it might be an interesting daily wearer
    (whats the asking price?)

hope that helps and doesn't sound too harsh

Wow, thanks for the detailed replies! I wish I had better pictures, but that's all I've got. I guess it's pretty fairly priced for its condition; asking price is roughly $500.

Maybe it's a decent candidate to purchase, then have it sent off to Omega for restoration.

    That's not a lot for a Connie
But you really need to see the movement as it could be a mess
    Regardless You'll need to factor in a service - around $200-$300 ?
But that goes for most vintage watches too

It depends on your budget but I'm going to give the usual sage-like advice
Better to save for a while and get a better watch
You'll be pleased you did in the end

    +1
    I missed that!

Actually in this case the dial is so shagged that they could only make it better

    HOWEVER
For the cost of the Omega service alone you could buy a really nice round cased Connie

To my tired eyes is the star a bit squiffy?
I agree there are much nicer examples about.

Has Omega service gone the way of Rolex servicing? Replacing tritium dials/hands with luminova hands/dials, swapping out parts for "service" parts, etc?

I've been out of the watch collecting game for a number of years now, but have always been looking for a Constellation. I'd normally expect to pay around $1000-1300 for a decent "pie-pan" Constellation, but wanted to make sure with this cheap one.

Yeah, dial is too gone for me. I'd say save your money and wait out for a nicer example. If you ever want to resell it, it will make it much easier

Constellation prices have risen in recent times
your budget will still get you a nice pie-pan Connie -but only if you find a good deal

Depends on the case style you are after

Pie-pans will always cost more than a dome dial
Round case Connies tend to be less sought after (not by me) - and with pie-pans are less common to find
