Hi OF,
Still sober on this side of the globe 😎, but having some difficulty in correctly identifying and appraising this Constellation. So far in my eyes things check out: reference, dial, hands, crown, movement. What I am in doubt about is if the case is overly polished (if polished, but to my eye it looks like it 👎). Care to share your opinion? Would greatly appreciate it. On the OF I could check a few connies that come close, but they did not match entirely. As this in on auction I also would appreciate to know the price that would be fair for this watch if it's worth a bid. Thanks again!

Yes, the case is polished a bit to death. The dial and hands are quite nice. But I can see some spotting on the dial. I would say eur 500-750. But non omega people dont mind polished cases. So it could go higher.

Thanks! Glad to see my concerns confirmed. I didn't see the spotting, but if so: a little patina doesn't hurt you😎
If the seller gets his/her way it must go for much more. For me knowing what you confirmed makes it a no go.

These 168.004 are very nice. Great wrist presence. But they are not rare. With a bit of patience you can find a better one.

Not my best pics @Plees but this will show you what an .004 case should look like.
(last pic is a comparison with ‘yours’ above

Thanks for responding! These comparisons really show how much the case is polished. What makes it difficult is how much ware may be considered a result of “normal use”. Seeing the ases alongside each other makes that easy to see. 👍

I would say that rather than "normal use" this could have been subjected to "frequent care and polishing". It devalues it as a collector's item, but it doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong.

I have a .004 myself and it is a lovely watch. Mine is certainly not unpolished either 😀
