Hi All,

Thinking of buying this constellation 167.005.
It looks polished, is it a redail?
Still ok?

Thanks,
Michel

From the overexposed pictures, this looks like a listing from Closer in Japan.

Dial looks original to me and case has been polished, but not terribly so. But the overly bright pictures can hide a lot of flaws. In addition, Closer has started to charge ridiculous shipping costs to hide tariffs.

Be careful.

Dial looks ok to me. I expect there will be surface defects in person.

A question for others: is that wonky O in Chronograph (the 2nd one) original? Looks a little goofy to me.

A known trait on some Constellations.

A bit like the odd ‘C’ in OFFICIALLY - not so pronounced but something to look out for as a sign of an authentic dial.

Thank you for the replies. I will think about it. Maybe I will look further. It is not from Japan, but I think the pictures where taken by the store who did sell it to the current owner. Here are some more pics.

Thanks, Michel

The pics really aren’t good enough to assess the dial properly but I quite like this watch.
I think it would look very good on the wrist.

However, how desirable it is would very much depend on cost ( and on getting some decent dial pics)

Case seems to be in nicer condition that you originally described. Can’t say much about dial from the angles shown. Crystal could use a Polywatch polish.

Now it comes down to price.

Do you have any movement pics?

Thanks you, asking price is around 1800 euro.

For US$2,100, I would expect an original bracelet.

I think this could be a good buy at a lower price.

Couple of things.

I was also going to mention the non-Omega bracelet.

If the dial is clean and you could get the price down to nearer €1,500 then this could be a watch you could enjoy.

Thank you all. I will skip it. I have another option, a 168.005, which is cheaper but has some uneven patina/ tarnish. I can post pictures here, or should I open another thread? Happy new year!

The non-date versions are far more scarce than the with date versions and many collectors prefer them. They carry a slight premium. Without looking at the other watch, uneven tarnish/patina would put me off one of these.

I think our collective conclusion here is that you try to make a deal on this watch at a more reasonable price if seller is willing to negotiate.

I personally would rather overpay for a good watch, than get a deal for a watch that isn't good.

IMO, 1800 Euro IS an overpay for this, but not criminally so. IF it was a dealer I trusted/liked, and a watch that DID it for me (I'm an oddball, I want a date pie pan connie 😀 ), I'd pay the 1800 (or whatever you could negotiate down to), and cry once rather than every time I wore the watch.

In this condition, I would not pay more than $1500 USD. I just saw a much better example with BoR bracelet sell at auction for about $1600 USD.

The OP watch is not bad, and worth buying at the right price. I just find the condition to be about average, and there is no bracelet.
