Constellation 14900

Hi guys,

I think I've reached the moment of adding a constellation to my humble collection, after a few years of collection Omegas!
I'm being offered this one, with 551 cal.

My research shows that the watch is good: dial, case sharpness, serial number, etc.

Still, I wanted to double check with the experts here that I'm not getting something frankenstein-ish... I'm a bit paranoid with all the variants of constellations and the redial magicians...

Appreciated!

Do you have any photos of the movement? The damage around the case back stands out to me. It would be nice to make sure that the movement was not butchered by the same person who may have damaged the it while trying to open the watch.

My non-expert opinion is that the movement looks clean, but I would get it serviced right away if you plan on wearing it. It still has the original gasket on the case back.

As above, it does look good.
It would help us to help you if you include all the pics and info you have, like inner case back and serial number.
The damage to the case back wouldn’t bother me unduly unless the asking price is high.

Good to go as best I can tell. Comes down to price.

Thanks! $1,000 , which is a a pretty good price according to my research.
I'll be pulling the constellation trigger then 😉

On another note: how come some of these come with OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED on the dial, and others (like mine), don't? Any difference in the movement or it has to do with the year OMEGA started certifying with 3rd party company?

p.s. serial number is 19,xxx,yyy

There are many collectors here who would buy that watch for that price without a second thought.

Mine doesn't have "officially" certified either.
Yours is less than I paid and nicer dial.

I have one in gold cap with the Cal. 551. This is a really nice watch and the price is right. The corners on the case are so sharp you could cut butter with it. Jump on it before someone else does.

$1,000 for a Constellation in such good condition? Sounds too good to be true. Seems fishy. This could easily go for $1,500+.

Thanks everyone for the input!

I’ll buy it over the weekend and will post photos 😀

Very good price for that watch.

The ‘missing text’ dial is just something Omega did for a short period from around ‘59-‘62.
Absolutely correct for your watch.

It's a steal at that price. Buy it before someone else grabs it.

Very sharp case on this one. I know someone who will buy it if you pass.
