Hey guys, I have mostly been a lurker here over the years, but since I sold off my collection and consolidated down to a two watch collection with both of them being Omega's, I figured I post here and participate more here. Planet Ocean just arrived to pair with my Seamaster 300m blue that I picked up a couple of weeks ago. I have owned a ton of Omega's over the years, but REALLY liking this combo! Greg
Congrats on consolidating down to two watches. I am trying to and having a hard time. How were you able to do it?
I feel you! My personal limit would be 7 watches. That way, every piece has the chance to at least be worn once a week. @cjoedaniel If I were you I would observe the wrist time each watch gets to have over a long enough period of time (maybe 2 months?). Make an Excel sheet where you enter what watch has been worn what day. Over time you will probably become more aware over what pieces you tend to pick vs. which ones get left behind.
great watches and great choices. I really wish I could do. this. I've tried, but I just can't choose.
I admire your discipline and appreciate your choices. I am also interested in your thought process of how you whittled down your collection as well as which ones you let go.
I have a 2254, I love it, also liking the SM300 in blue as well...I fear the collection is growing not shrinking
Good for you! I’ve often considered trying to downsize to 2 (or maybe 3, to include a quartz beater), but have never managed it. At the moment, if I did, the two would be my Seamaster 300 MC and the Speedy FOIS. I don’t think I could have two divers as the only two watches, but that’s me. I like a little more variety. Same goes with having only 2 chronographs.
If I had to, I think that I could be happy with three Omegas from my current collection: my Speedy Pro (because if I can't have a Speedmaster, then what's the point?), my Seamaster Professional 300m (my daily wearer because it has a sapphire crystal, a date function, amazing lume, and the styling works with just about anything I wear) and probably my 1962 Constellation gold cap (for dress occasions). That being said, I like shiny expensive Swiss machinery, so a reduction is probably not in the offing.
Congratulations on your discipline and your choices. I am having difficulty whittling mine down below 20. I don't dare show this post to my wife
I'm intrigued that - based on the timeline in your post - you whittled your collection down to two watches by: 1 - Selling every watch you owned 2 - Within a few short weeks purchasing two Omega dive watches. You whittled and built new in one fell swoop.
