    Hi fellow Omega fans,

I'm seriously considering purchasing the 145.024 "flat jedi" that I've been looking for for a while now. The seller is asking EUR 1500 (approx USD 1600).

It doesn't come with a box or papers, nor the original bracelet. I'm looking for your opinions, both on the asking price and on the general condition of the watch. Any connoisseurs here have any input for me? Thanks in advance!

    Condition wise...

A few little dinks and scrapes to the case back, on the non pushers/crown edge, and on the top, below 6 o'clock.

Nice even fade on dial and hands.

    Movement looks clean.

I think I'd be asking questions about service history.

And if it has been recently serviced, why they didn't clean off the black gloop from the old case back seal.

Price wise... Not far off from what I've seen them selling for in the last 12 months.

Dial is a bit faded ( compared to my Chrono Jedi :whistling: )

31 mill serial number worth a check as common to make these up for the extra coin of JEDI label

Looks like it has some chrono creep also.

    Sellers pick does it justice

    Thanks a lot guys!

Good catches, thanks. The dings in general don't bother me that much, but the middle of the non-chrono-button edge has me somewhat worried. It could just be the picture, but it looks like the edge has been polished off (at approx. 9 o'clock). Guess I'll have to ask for a better picture.

The glass, by the way, doesn't appear to have the Omega mark. I can only assume it was replaced at some point. Does that factor into the value for you?

Do you mean that the picture with the 31 mil serial might not show the watches actual movement? Also, interested in learning how you determined chrono creep. Is it because the chrono seconds hand is at hal a minute, but the chrono minute register is still pretty much at zero?

Awesome watch by the way! I never knew they made Flat Jedi in 176.001 cases, too.

I don't think there is Chrono creep. This is when the chronograph is reset to zero, and the (centre) hour sub dial hand creeps away from zero, either on reset or over time.

This watch was photographed when the Chrono he been run, then stopped. Perhaps the owner thought it showed the dial better.

I think the back gunk referred to above may in fact be corrosion. I cannot tell from photo but it would be good to check.

Nice watches, cheap at the moment.

Looks pretty good to me, but perhaps slightly over-priced.

2-3 months back, I picked up this one below for about US$ 1,485. It came on 1171 bracelet with 175 end-links. Pretty good condition, except for tiny dinks at 10 & 4:30, and a slight blemish at the end of the hour hand. Hope these pictures help you make a comparison re. price & condition.

My recommendation would be go for it if you can get a couple of hundred off the asking price - they're terrific watches!

Was thinking with the chrono dial at (3) showing less that a minute and the chrono dial at (6) showing just past the 12. looks to me it could be the chrono dial at (6) does not set to 12. In my pictures notice I have done this and taken a photo and the (6) chrono dial is still at 12 ;)

First photo showing the dial side is stopped and reset. Either it has creep or the minute recorder hand is not installed right. Since the person doing the timing checks doesn't know how to use the machine (wrong lift angle yet again!) if that photo is taken at full wind, the amplitude is low. If the OP buys this they should count on getting a service done.

    Cheers, Al

This is why this is the best Omega forum in the world. Thanks guys!

Oh, and Ken G: what a beauty. At that price and in that shape, I'd have had no doubts either!

    Thanks, dialstatic!

And good luck with getting hold of a Flat Jedi; whether it's the one you've posted here or another.

You'll be glad you did! ;-)

By the way, at the moment I'm wearing mine on OEM mesh and have put the 1171 bracelet on my Memomatic.

Here are some more pics that show how that worked out.

It looks gorgeous on mesh! I'm gonna have to look into that, since it doesn't come with the original stap anyway.

As you may deduce from the above, I'm leaning strongly towards picking this up. The seller was able to reassure me that the black stuff is gunk rather than corrosion, and put it in the timegrapher again this time with the correct lift angle (result: 266 degrees).

The apparent softness on the non-chrono-pushers edge is an optical illusion: new pics show it's in fact sharp. He agreed to reduce the price a little (rather than a lot ;-), so the only remaining issue is the fact that the hour totalizer indeed doesn't seem to reset properly (or as @Archer said, might be installed wrong). Am I correct in assuming this could be fixed by someone who knows what they're doing?

One final issue is the crystal. The seller says it's likely not original (no omega mark) so I'm looking into a replacement. Otto Frei appears to offer two variants: one with a white tension ring, and one with a yellow one. Since the 145.024 was made in two variants as far as I'm aware (a silver one an this black one), am I correct in assuming these correspond with those? Does anyone know if I'd need the white or yellow version for this? Does it even matter?

    Thanks again!

The watch needs to be serviced, so please take that into account in the purchase price. The hour recorder can be set on properly at service. If it resets to the same place each time the hand is probably tight enough to be used again, and just needs to be put on with a little more skill.

Proper crystal for a steel case is 063PZ5184. The yellow tension ring is for a gold plated version of the case.

    Cheers, Al

I pulled the trigger on this after some additional negotiations. Couldn't be happier! Already sourced an appropriate bracelet on these boards, too. It's running very well, but I'll take the advice to heart have it serviced immediately. Thanks for your help everyone!
