If I were you, I would try finding one with best possible case and bracelet condition + b/p, instead of finding tritium, luminova etc. This watch would be a keeper so the condition matters instead of dial configurations.

Indeed something was missing. A few pictures really improve any thread!

Lot's of good points made. I'll focus first on the basics for this model --> condition, condition condition (with box and papers) and see what comes around first. And I do prefer the look of the 2-liner.

    Thanks so much all.

If you're a vintage guy, go tritium dial, although not all of them take on strong patina (time will tell.) If you're more into modern watches, get a luminova, 2 or 4-liner. Either way, condition is far more important, especially an untouched case, and all those little dial variations are virtually meaningless. I've owned several of each through the years. They're all nice, but the simple beauty and cool factor of the 14060 2-liner with a slightly patina'd tritium dial is tough to beat. Here's my (former) W serial from the mid-'90s.

Agree, new ones are a tad bit big. Have an old 5513, bought an new 116, gonna get rid of it. After having a 5513, new subs feel soo big

IMHO the first 14060M Submariner with two line dial and drilled through lugholes were the last classic steel Submariners... Watches enjoyed by a few modern day astronauts

I’m also on the lookout for a 14060. I prefer the classic proportions and the 5513’s have become way too expensive.

Out of interest, if I wanted a tritium dial, is a 2 liner 14060 my only option? Or is tritium available in the 14060M model?

Tritium is only available with the 2-liner on the dial. The 14060M has Luminova and Super Luminova and the 4-liner appears once it becomes COSC in 2007.

An early 2 liner would be ideal for me. Would love to add one to my collection

They are all great options. If your going to wear it then just get your favourite. Especially if your budget is tight.

I haven’t been on the forum for a while, but I recently purchased this 2-liner 14060m. I wanted something modern with an older aesthetic, and this one fit the bill perfectly. Here’s a photo to help with your decision, maybe not.

    I have a 2 liner

They are all the same prices relatively (14060 and 14060M)
    Things to consider:

Tritium vs Superluminova (I wanted lume), you already cracked the code and found out that T swiss <25 T means tritium and swiss/swiss made means superluminova.

One thing you may not have noticed is that there are dial logo variations. If you google 14060M you will find this monstrosity:
    8504162142_15ae5a368b_b.jpg
The coronet logo is shorter on the outside flanges, it's genuine but I do not like.

Lug holes or no holes case? (I like lug holes, last of the "true sports subs" and you can get visual confirmation that your spring bars are seated)

2 or 4 line dial? I like 2 because you can only get it on the submariner (all sub dates are chronometers) and it's symmetrical with the top two rows, and the newer subs are all 4 line so it's unique.

4 line dial: some/maybe all come with engraved rehaut which I could take or leave, but no 2 liner has engraved rehaut so I do not have it.

Overall: pick one that is in GREAT condition, unpolished if possible but you never really know, look for those bevels...
Pick one with the specs that you like. For me it was two liner with lume and lug holes and I love it. You are going to end up spending well over $6,000 so you should take your time figuring out which configuration you're after and hunt it out. They made lots of these so I wouldn't worry about lack of supply. I got mine in 2014 and I thought what I got it for was steep. Now it's borderline crazy. However they do hold value insanely well and I adore the watch. Message me if I can help any more.
