Conquest - any chance a dial like this will clean up nicely?

I would say no. I never see a dirty paint based dial could be cleaned satisfactorily. Gold dial might have succesfully cleaned, but that also a long shot with chance of failure. My friend cleaned gold dial UG polerouter with horrible result.

That's usually mold caused by moisture, and it's under the clear coat most times.

Actually these dials are plated with a protective lacquer finish, not painted.

And no you are not likely to have a good result with cleaning.

Don't clean it, it took 50 odd years for that patina to appear, I think patinas and spotting are high character plusses, not minuses.
