    Hi all,

Fell across the beauty below. Dial and BOR bracelet seem nice and original, through probably a replacement crown. But the movement has a bit of rust on it and looks greasy. How much is acceptable in your opinion?

    Asking price is 2000 eur.

Refinished dial, so it would be a hard pass for me regardless of the price, 2000 eur for this example is crazy!

Dial repainted. Case is badly over polished with missing stars on the back. Movement is the best part. Back to school for you. ;)

You are right, I didn’t even notice that stars were missing on the back. I can’t spot that the dial has been repainted, but trust that you are right. Finding vintage Omegas is a jungle

Every clue for a redial is present. The pie-pan edges are completely rounded over, font is wrong, hash marks are misaligned and misplaced. In addition to the case-back, the lugs are badly over polished with rounded edges and bevels. It's really a bad example.

I suggest starting with @ConElPueblo's classic thread, and then spending more time looking at watches before considering a purchase. Make sure you have a good handle on the basics of condition.

I will definitely check that out. The seller seemed reputable, from the UK and specializes in Omega watches, so I didn’t even consider it to be repainted or polished.

I have actually spent a few months now looking at vintage Omegas. But there is a lot to learn, I recon

If he is an honest seller, he may have indicated that the dial was repainted by saying that it was "restored" or by using a similar euphemism. Most sellers don't give detailed opinions about polishing, and allow the photos to speak for themselves. I think that we would be interested in seeing who was selling this watch if you care to post a link.

I'm not sure why there are currently 2 threads with this title and discussion.

On the bright side, the OP is getting the same feedback in both threads.

I have no idea why it was posted twice. Doesn’t seem to be an option to delete

That is an extremely deceptive listing from "Authentic Watch Company" in the UK. I notice that many of their watches are re-dialed, and disclosed as "refinished". Also, most of their watches are polished and prepped for sale in a way that collectors will generally not appreciate. The prices are absurd. Frankly, I wouldn't waste my time looking at their inventory.

Well, we're running two entirely separate threads on this watch actually. The OP is really getting his money's worth. The other one has the photos. ::facepalm2::
