Hi Vintage Omega Community:

Someone is offering me the above for $1,300. I saw this piece in person. Decent piece in decent condition with the seemingly original bracelet. I'd like to ask the experts for their opinion if this is worth buying. I have reservations on the dial(re MOY -hopefully an exception/outlier)). The scripts is embossed/raised and the serif seems to be the right one. Please take a look and give me your guidance/advise.
Best

Watch looks nice to me, but you'd better count on paying for a service, which will run from $150 to $300 depending on what needs to be done. So you may wind up spending $1,500 to $1,600 by the time you are finished. That's too high, IMO.

I like everything about this watch, except the price.

Looks good, and for an acceptable price I think, even if you count in a service. The only niggle would be that the star seems not to sit straight. A head-on picture of the dial would help to be sure in that regard.

The Star sits straight. How much is a reasonable price to for a connie like this with the bracelet?.

Thanks and how much is a good price sans service?

Looks like an honest, unpolished, all original example with a nice dial.

The price incl. bracelet is at the upper end of the range, but still fair IMO. I have seen worse pieces selling for more.

I personally think the price is just about ok with bracelet as well even without the service. Maybe just a touch high so if you could get anything off it would be good. $1100 -$1200 would be good.

He went down by 100 already. Not sure if there's more room but I'll try. Thanks.

I'd say the price isn't bad, bracelet alone is around $150, looks like a nice onyx dial.

If you like it and have set your mind on it you are certainly not getting ripped off so rest easy 👍

Thanks X350, Gav Omeguy(nice name btw). I'll haggle a bit more say 100 bucks less and see what he says. Still has the original crystal that I forgot to mention.

To specialists: What about the second “o” of chronometer?
Is there some variation on 168.005?
Some time it is perfectly round and sometime, like there, he is more oval-shaped.

is there an explanation for that?

Oval-shaped is good and it’s something I look out for in an original dial. Not all dial manufacturers used the same fonts.

@bubu16, have a search on the private sales forum here for similar watches. You will not find anything in this condition for $1,200. A very, very fair price. I would expect this to sell on various platforms at minimum around $1,500.

Yes that is a very fair price. Minty piepan for under 1000usd are extremely hard to come by these days.

If you listen to Gator, you will end up with nothing on your wrist. 😁

( black onyx insert with bracelet coming with small marker next to date window, what else do you ask for?)

I have been looking for one like this for a while so I am well across current prices. If you like it, buy it - the price is very fair from my perspective, and considerably lower than some have asked for lesser pieces.
