Beautiful watch even with its flaws, I was thinking of contesting but didn't want to ruin the fun of another collector for a watch I'm not directly passionate about

https://www.omegawatches.com/es/stories/the-observer

^ I do wonder if this watch is another "Omega Museum Project" - the dial is weird and the price is just off the charts, but don't get me wrong, I wholeheartedly believe this watch is worth around $200k too and the $20k recent sale was an interesting fluke for something so rare

^ the one Omega has, dial logo is quite different

I had the chance to hold on for real last year. It was offered for CHF 33k if I remember correctly.

That is a different watch. Compare the star alignment.

Ah I see it now, same alignment with the museum example, but different to the one from the auction house.

I was tempted, but I just didn't know enough about this variant of 2699 so was somewhat wary of bidding higher.

Lovely enamel work, but really hate the Omega logo position. Thats what ruins it for me

Think it would have been nicer in the 12:00 position. Nice open space for it as the 12 index

Survived a water intrusion, hands changed, but I'd say 80% condition - ie. in good condition, sad that they didn't even relume the hands, I recently bought the exact same NOS hands

I had stupid remarks about Omega's polished/curvy logo and purchase price, going deeper into the model, I see that the oval logo is used on some models for some reason, I personally quite like the bottom placed logo with sharper edges

These are Cloisonne dials
The Seamaster is actually the Neptune dial

There's a flower dial too, but I didn't dig deeper to see whether there are others in the same style

Well, don't forget to note that the dial is cracked in the bottom right quadrant.

I was watching the auction live and the auction house seemed surprised at the result.

Unbelievable that the auction house still did not provide a hi res naked dial pic
