  • Extra info: They claim that if they were to place the watch in a pressure test, (to test the gaskets) it would pass.
If they are so confident, why wouldn’t they just offer to perform said test, which is straightforward and one that my local OB offers regularly?

Like on a humid day in the city, or traveling by plane. This drives humid air into the watch by pushing those chronograph buttons

So.... the space watch cant handle air travel????

It never seizes to amaze what some store clerks in watch stores/car dealerships/guitar stores/gun shops/etc claim.
I can’t speak to that specific model but I had that happen a few years back with my Speedmaster Auto (which is even less “waterproof” than a regular Speedy pro case). Both times it was from seals that weren’t ok any longer. One time actual water had gotten in (I have since decided to never use a Speedmaster in wet conditions such as a shower, swimming, etc). The other time it was merely from perspiration during a bike ride.
Under normal conditions and with the watch I’m fully serviced shape there is no such issue. Certainly not from operating the pushers on a humid day. That’s nonsense. By the looks of it you has some actual liquid seep in. It needs to go for a full service I think.

What model of automatic Speedmaster do you have? I don't think any are rated less than 50 m, which is what the Speedmaster Pro models are rated for...

This is the main reason the women astronauts are not allowed to have them.

It’s a 3510.50 from 89/90. They didn’t have the screw in case back yet at the time.

In had the crystal on my Speedmaster replaced and it was sent back three times becuase of condensation under the crystal. Nobody ever said it was normal or expected - just the opposite.

Interesting, have you noticed it after flying with it?
Never really thought about this before — how high would you need to fly to actually damage a watch? Is this a thing?

It was still rated for 50 m, just FYI...

I doubt it's a thing. If it were it would be pretty ridiculous if the Speedmaster could survive a space environment but couldn't survive getting to space.
