Hi All

i just wanted to get your views on which one is the best 166.010 option out of these two? I am not concerned about the bracelet situation - it doesn’t factor into my thinking, I’m not bracelet guy. It’s just quality of dial, hands, bezel etc. (Ideally id like it to have maintained its normal appearance/dial colour as much as possible - I’m not a patina guy!)

Two options (one with and one without onyx) - 3 photos each.

Thanks

The second is by far the better choice. Right bracelet, wrong end links. 😀

Edited to add, it might be the modern 511 and not vintage 11.

For argument sake, taking the bracelet out of it, would it remain your view that the second is best? (Im only going to put the bracelet in a cupboard and put it on a leather strap anyway!)

Are they the same price?
They’re not, but they’re both within the budget I’d set for myself and I’m not worried about re-sale. Therefore price doesn’t factor in this decision.I’m just curious as to what you guys think is the best/cleanest/neatest option.

It's pretty hard to compare because the lighting in the photos are quite different, and we are only seeing the watches from one angle. My sense is that the second case may be marginally better, but it could be due to the lighting. I would also want to see the case from the side and back, and also the condition of the movement.

And price always matters, don't fool yourself.

I’ll send some more angles tomorrow. On the second there’s some form of discolouration to the date window - what do you think that is?

i had a chance now.
The first two are watch 1 (No case back photo.)
The final three are watch 2.

(I know watch 1 has the wrong crown. I’ve been told there is the right crown available so it can be added.)

As you probably know, the vertical brushed finish on the side of the case is an important feature of these. Frankly, I'm still having trouble judging these photos, so I'd just suggest you look at good photos of other examples so that you know what to look for.

My gut impression is that the first one is a bit more honest, and the second has perhaps been a bit more polished and prepped. So that will be a matter of taste. Neither is pristine.

no I didn’t. I’m a massive novice. The only other side pics I could find were these

Any other takers on this? I’m just concerned about that discolouration on the metal around the date window. Is that likely a sign of a more serious historic problem/what is it?
