They do seem to be up to something as the "Coming soon" page style seems to change every 3 months.

At a certain point, a few months ago, they (accidentally or not so much accidentally) had already put the websites framework and the menu online. There was a „movements“ dropdown in which you could Read the names of a few microtor-movements.

Whatever they are up to, I’m sure it will be lame. This brand needs a proper owner and stewardship.

Can you imagine if someone properly relaunched this brand with "heritage" re-releases and modern innovation. What a dream 🙄

Perhaps I'm alone in thinking this way, but I'm really hoping the brand does NOT get re-launched. The beautiful, artistic and truly imaginative timepieces they created in the 1930s-1960s deserve their place among the all-time vintage watch greats. But I worry that without the brilliantly creative minds of those days, any "heritage" releases would likely diminish the brand's legacy and represent little more than ill-conceived and poorly executed efforts to restore long-lost glory. At the risk of waxing too poetic, I think part of the true magic of UG is that it was meteor flaming through the skies for a period of time, before it burned out from entry into the (quartz...) atmosphere. UG collectors have a rare chance to own some of the fragments and horological "dust" Universal Geneve scattered along the way, and for that I am grateful - and content.
Just my two cents. 😗

I fear that the way the company broke up has resulted in the brand owners not having the drawings and technical data to actually relaunch heritage designs successfully. I think someone has them. Probably I’m in the “Do Not Relaunch” camp.

Agreed. I think it’s a bit sad that UG’s history has ended on a not so glorious note. If they hired designers and engineers who understand where UG came from, I would love to see a next chapter.

BTW - We should all pitch in some money and then buy the brand. 😁

In my career in Consumer Products, I once worked for a company that had a roster of iconic brands that were just sitting there with their brand equity rotting away. We used to fantasize about rescuing them. I’m sure there are many of us who feel that way about UG.

I just heard back from Universal Genève. They are currently selling some models in Asia through the retailer City Chain and are planning to launch a completely new collection in the near future. Here are a couple of the ones for sale in HK.
