I know I'm going to go against the grain of many collectors on here, but I've just bought two watches that i've been after for a while and am suddenly feeling like my collection is complete; I've no great desire to own more watches than I own. This is something of a new experience.

Does anyone, or has anyone else felt like this? Will this pass? Should I seek medical help?

    Ha!

@jimmyd13 Unfortunately I'm away for work but let's call it a tight collection of 4 vintage watches (two late 60's DJs and two early 70s Omegas) and one modern for when its raining (a Tudor Black Bay Black). Apart from the Tudor I'm totally smitten with all of them.

Speedmasters and diving watches leave me cold. Just maybe I could add a speedmaster mark ii I guess....

Take a couple of aspirin for your fever, drink plenty of liquids, get plenty of rest and you should be back to your old self in a couple pf days. That feeling will pass. Or at least it always has with me.:D

If I had a dollar for every time I said "this is the last watch I'm going to purchase".

Each time I say this I feel like I am closer to not buying another watch. After my last purchase I am feeling that it is in fact my last watch. And like you, I am feeling like my collection is complete.

And since this post has no pics...my most recent purchase.

I get tremendous pleasure from taking care of the watches I own, but I don’t think owning more would bring me more pleasure.

Some pics from my phone to give you a sense of my tastes...

Dude, enjoy the 16-ish hours of bliss before you start getting that nagging urge to buy yet another watch. ;)

I chickened out on the inside track for another 321 last night. It was nice but had a small dent in the case but everything else was just stunning. I had the PP F&F all lined up and......I sent a note thanking the seller, apologizing profusely but I just could not do it. I've added a Timex Marlin, A very nice Pie Pan, A Salmon Ardath. All for less than 3K. I just could not bring myself to drop another big chunk on a watch I really don't need. Hmmmm

I've survived by narrowing my searches, a WWI Signal Corps with no cracks, a 1951 Museum bargain or a 1951 Cosmic tdmp, a JLC Master Moon for a steal....
If you focus on unobtainium, it's easy to pass on the rest.

Lol, ok @ulackfocus :) I’m feeling the OF “tough love” right there :p

The “collection complete” comment was definitely tongue in cheek but I’m certainly going to enjoy this novel feeling for the next 16 hours ;)

I share the same feelings with you for last few days since I bought TT 1931 Reverso brand new from the AD!! I’ve now around 20 watches of great bands and quality AND I feel my collection is complete. This year we are only in the third month and I bought 2 watches; this Reverso and the LE Railmaster. And both seemed essential to my collection indeed. I’m cautiously waiting for Basel to unveil some very stupid collection that I don’t like at all. And then my collection is complete, at least for a year......

I almost hate to mention it but might you not need a vintage dress watch of some kind? For those many tux-wearing occasions, for example? I know the Rollie could be used for that but perhaps it's not ideal for that black tie sleek minimalist look...

On the Way to Going Broke I had quite a collection of primarily 18k. dress watches and wore my Nautilus foe my everyday beater.
Today I'm down to two: My 145.022-68 everyday and an iconic dress chrono IWC 3714-45 Portugusse. More than enough for me.

Collection complete sounds boring. A weird feeling.
