Coaxial 2500D ticking loudness

I have noticed my SMPc ticking sounds a little quieter when the power reserve is almost at zero compared to when it is fully wound. Is that normal? So when it is fully wound, I can hear pretty nice loud ticking, and then it lowers the volume when power reserve decreases. I am just curious if this is normal for every mechanical watch or only coaxial. Or maybe I am not hearing right :).

    Thanks for the info.

At full wind you have the highest torque from the mainspring, that higher torque is transmitted to the escape wheel, and when the escape wheel locks onto each pallet stone, naturally the higher torque is going to result in a louder noise when compared to almost run down with considerably less torque.

The same principle applies to all escapements and all watches.

Think of tapping your finger nails lightly against the table, vs tapping them harder...
