Clasp Question.

I purchased a 2024 Speedmaster professional sapphire back in June. It is my first Omega and I have a question around the clasp. In 2021 the Speedmaster use to have the clasp with the two position spring bar adjustment. They changed it in 2022 or 2023( not sure when) to one with the 2 position thumb adjuster. This is the one that I have, being a 2024 model. However, I read recently that the white dial Speedmaster has a different design on the clasp then the black dial which is what I have. They say the white dial as black lines on the back of the clasp, while the black dial as clear lines on it. I looked at mind and it as black lines on it. Can someone confirm that black line on the black dial Speedmaster is normal? I did purchased it from a local AD.

If they are both stock Omega bracelets, it is more than possible that Omega has changed bracelet suppliers, given that the Seamaster bracelet also changed very slightly.

Several months ago I had the clasp on my Seamaster Heritage replaced at an Omega Boutique under warranty, and the "Omega" lettering on my new clasp is darker than the old clasp. I just assumed it was a different batch. And didn't give it a lot of thought at the time.

Either way these are proper Omega parts so I don't see what the issue is. If you have a bracelet like that it's likely we'll see more of them appear on black dials.

I am just wondering because I read some where that said the dark lines are only for the white dial. I'm concerned because if some how the wrong bracelet got put on the wrong watch during assembly or at the boutique, it later may reduce the value of the watch because collector could view it as a Frankenwatch. Is there a way to check serial numbers on the watch and check it against serial numbers for the parts? I went to the Omega website and all they have is watch serial numbers for my watch, not for individual parts of my watch. I know all parts comes with their own serial number.

Looking at Omega's website the white dial's clasp doesn't have black lines, the clasp looks the same as the black dial version. First I've heard of these black lines. Are they actually painted, or is is it some sort of metal finishing?

I don't think it is painted, but I'm not really sure because the lines are really fine

Finishing, not painting.

Here's my clasp and the original.

@Kmmdad57 post the part number on your clasp swing arm. It will be visible when the clasp is closed; someone with a older 3861 bracelet should be able to compare that and I'd bet they match.

I understand your concern but keep in mind that it makes little sense for Omega to have two bracelets that are nearly identical but with different finishing for the moonwatch. Additionally, is the bracelet that came on your watch, so it is proper.

Well it is definitely not painted or dirt. I post this to FB and 3 other people have experience this. To me it seem the surface of the clasp is polished and omega logo is also polished, but the lines that are cut into the clasp and the steal is darker. I'm thinking that it as level of say of maybe iron which makes it darker(just a guess). I actually like it but I don't know it it would reduce the value of the watch.

Do you mean that three other people have a black Speedmaster with the same clasp as you?

Still might be helpful for you to post that clasp part number...

I hope so and I agree with you. My clasp number is STZ013899.

Also here is a article on Fratello about clasps and I did notice that some of the clasp in this blog is like mine. https://www.fratellowatches.com/strap-check-omega-speedmaster-chronoscope-clasp-on-moonwatch/

If you have seen three or so other black speedmasters with the same clasp as you have, it's likely not a case where a wrong part has been installed. What is a lot more likely is that whoever commented that the white dial has a different clasp just made an assumption. I have not seen anything from Omega that actually states that.
