got mine. I'm mixed. like but don't love it and want to love it badly. I think it's a beautiful watch but it does not give me that joy putting it on and I feel I should have that feeling for a brand-new watch. maybe not so "brand new" since I've been waiting for so long and imagined it on my wrist for months. maybe my expectation and anticipation was too high. I like how it looks as a part of a wardrobe but it does not make me want to stare at the dial (and I think we all know that feeling, staring at our watch, seeing how light plays off the bezel, dial, hands, and brushed/polished finish without actually reading time). maybe it's because I moved on to a new acquisition I have in mind. sometimes the anticipation of something feels better than the real thing.

I can never let an opportunity pass to let the late, great Lemmy say the chase is better than the catch....

The watch looks amazing. This very well could have been a new watch purchase for me, but really need to see it first. Two items kept me from pulling the trigger on this one. The sapphire crystal and no bracelet. I suspect the bracelet can easily be accommodated. Given the fact that I sold my speediorite due to the sapphire crystal, as I could not get over looking through the crystal at what is the most amazing dial ever. In any case would like to hear thoughts on how the sapphire crystal works for this one (vs hesalite).

I think I will likely have the same feeling as you if I pick mine up from the AD.

Crappy cellphone pictures but hopefully helpful for those still waiting. Tried to take unique angles to show how the glass interplays with the dial.

interesting to hear about your reaction...
fortunately, for me I knew exactly what i was getting since i was able to try on the Baselworld road show CK2998 in early April.
so i knew what to expect. I love this watch. blue panda is cool. perfect size.
great to have with my collection and coordinates great in tandem with with my Speedy Pro 馃榾

but everyone will have their own personal tastes of what they like or dislike

If you don't like it, it seems like you can make 50% more if you decide to sell in the not too distant which is a pretty good option too!

i also have the Speedy Pro (hesalite). Definitely the Speedy Pro has a different feel with the hesalite. However because of "case" design of the sapphire crystal on the CK2998, it does mimic the feel of hesalite a little bit.....but of course not exactly.
Personally, for me i'm happy to have the sapphire on the CK2998 because its nice not to worry about scratching the crystal and visually it looks fine to me as a watch. All my other watches in my collection (except for the Speedy Pro) have sapphire crystals so why would the CK2998 be any less of a watch because it has sapphire. yes it has the speedmaster name and the CK2998 name but besides that...it doesn't look anything like the Speedy Pro pre or post moon so why would it matter if it didn't have hesalite.
IMO 馃榾

I did not say I disliked it! Just don't love it (yet?) and I thought I would. Nope. Not selling. This was the most gorgeous watch I ever saw photographed so hence my super high hope. Have to say absolutely beautiful lume. Pictures don't to justice.

Another "shot". Two first's in space. Both limited editions.

I think the (yet?) is the key.
When i first saw mine at the boutique. I had a mix feeling too. I was not as impressed as i thought i would be.
Most of the pictures i could see are close-up and when i saw it in the flesh, real size, it looked so small ... The subdials looked ridiculously small too. Honetsly, for a couple second, i thought about letting it there and buying a SM300c on bracelet instead.

But then i put it on my wrist, and started to appreicate it ... And it's going more and more. Everydayy i like it more and more.
