Several reports I've seen on other forums with people at US boutiques being denied parts because they don't own the watch or it was never an option for the watch they want the parts for. Better to not mention the watch you want the parts for.

Most brands don't do mixing and matching of parts from different models, so Omega is not doing anything out of the ordinary here. This, I believe, is in part due to the "Swiss" way of doing things, partly because they want consistent representations of their product, and also for liability reasons. People blame the company already for lots of crazy things, so I can understand why they don't want people putting clasps and bracelets on models they were not intended for, because some would certainly take Omega to task if their jury rigged set-up fails, and a watch gets dropped or lost because something went wrong. It would not even have to be related to the mod for Omega to get blamed.

It's not a popular policy obviously, but I understand why they do it. It is very much the way the industry works...you may think you own the watch since you bought and paid for it, but they still want to dictate what happens to it.

The boutique model is not just about maximizing profits, but as much about maximizing control. You may have better luck with this kind of request with an AD rather than a boutique.

This sort of thing is only going to get worse as Omega tries to move up the food chain...

    Cheers, Al

The 1171 bracelet is a no go with the CK2998. Bracelet is 20mm wide and does not fit well. See pics.

I'm heading back to OB to have them put it back on strap. IMG_20161007_123230.jpg IMG_20161007_123241.jpg

1125 with 560 end links fit better.

The more i wear this watch the more i get used with a non-steel strap. I use natos and stock strap. I'm resigned to get a stell bracelet

Sorry for the iPhone/IG screenshot (not mine), but imo the Speedmaster Racing bracelet is the best fit.

Here is mine closeup with the 1125/560 bracelet, and a distance shot from another owner.

Stopped by the local boutique yesterday and talked about bracelets for this watch. They showed me the racing bracelet on a racing Speedy and said it would fit the CK2998, but not perfectly, and would leave scratch marks on the case. They said the older 1125 bracelet would probably scratch more. Have any of ya'll seen that after removing your bracelets?

Anyway, they said they are not supposed to sell these bracelets for the CK2998. But they will sell it, they just won't install it themselves.

That looks great. May I inquire where you picked yours up. And does anyone know if I could buy a deployant clasp to fit on the OEM Alli leather.

No scratches yet from my 1125 but it can be a concern for those worried about such things. Best way to describe it is that it fits like the old Rolex bracelets. If you notice those older watches, the underside of the lugs can get scratched from the hollow end links. Doesn't really bother me much.

This one look nice (flat link like, no end link):

Scratches not visible when worn would not concern me too much. Just wouldn't want scratches between the lugs on the case, which might be visible when wearing a non-curved strap.

Omega deployant clasps are designed to be used in conjunction with specific straps and won't work on a strap designed for a tang buckle (I think both sides of a deployant strap are about equal in length). You can buy third-party deployants for which you can swap out the tang buckle, which is what I have done for the strap of an SMPc, posted on the forum previously.

I have a couple of clasps from Bob. Great product at an affordable price point.
