Agreed on the hour hand as well - the 2915-3 version almost touches the tip of the marker lume while for the early 2998 version there is about a 2mm separation from the lume.

There is one more difference: The thread of the caseback is different. You can not turn a 2915-1 or -3 caseback into a 2998-1 or -2 case. It will not turn on to the end 馃槑

well, it is really strange as you are right with your remarks about the 105.003
BUT look at this zoom! This is neither a reflection nor a missing bezel:

On the bezel it almost looks like there can be seen the engraved numbers. On the other hand, where is the borad arrow hand.....馃憥
This is an image I found of a 105.003 on display by NASA, which looks almost identical, no bezel, JB-Champion bracelet, scratched up crystal and stick hands:

Yeah, looks pretty similar. BTW it is the 105.003 of Cernan wearing it as the last man on the moon. It can be seen in Bienne in the Omega museum.

Strange that NASA allowed to wear a cal 321 watch although the standard was the cal 861 at that time 馃憥

They would have had to run all their tests again on the new 861 Speedmaster and there was no need they already had a model that had passed all the tests and had proven itself in the field.
Of course when the Shuttle came into service they had to buy a new batch of 861 Speedies and do just that.

I think I read somewhere that Omega set the price at $0.01 in the procurement? 馃榿

Agreed, but has not Omega changed from the symmetrical to the assymmetrical case to make the watch more protected? With this in mind it seems little strange that the last man on moon was allowed to wear a straight lug model on that mission. In the Omega museum is written: "la derni猫re Speedmaster port茅e sur la Lune: celle de Cernan" (the last Speedmaster worn on the moon: the one of Cernan).
