    Hi fellows,

I wanna star a thread about the very first series of Speedy, the CK 2915 and post some pics of my 2915-1 with the movement 15.xxx.xxx. I am very happy to own one of these very rare birds. If you can get one of these you do not mind about as new or worn conditions, I can tell you, you just take what dropped in your hands ;) . Mine is definitly worn and used and it has spent a lot if time in the outside, I suppose, as the dial got a brownish tone. Some love the chocolate dials especially some do prefer the black ones. I love it as it is ::love::

The central second needs to be fixed but I wait with this as the movement does need some service anyway. I have an CK 2915-3 as well and will poste some pics of that beauty later, as it is in service.

Now you have my attention, the second hand is a trivial concern really when you've got an example of THE original sports chronograph.

We use the term grail watch too lightly sometimes but this is a grail by any standard. Congrats on owning it and I hope to get one like it in the future. BTW will you be replacing the seconds hand at some point? The watch is otherwise in pretty good shape with parts that look original to the watch including the bezel.

Would also love to see pictures of the 2915-3.

    Thanks guys, for comenting.
Have you noticed this very first example of a 7077 bracelet. The clasp is a three part construction to which Omega only returned more than 30 Years later with its modern 1998 Speedy clasp. The "later" 7077 clasp consist of only two metal plates folding together as with the 7912, 1501 etc....

Little detail but I love it :)

Oh yes, I didn't notice. I have the same, but not complete. Just to find a 2915 to go with the bracelet :)

Congratulations Gunnar. You are very fortunate to own such a wunderbar piece!! Please show us more and tell us the details. How long have you owned it? How did you acquire it? Do you know the history of the watch?

Steve, the acquistion was an adventure, as I bought blind from oversea ::screwloose::
About the history I do not know anything. Pitty.

Here is a scan of a newspaper advert from that time which I have bought some time ago showing the 2915 in action

Wooooooowww!!! That is an amazing original survivor. Love that bracelet, too--I had no idea that they had a tri-fold clasp at first.
I would also love to see a close up of the bezel if possible. It is so hard to find original examples of that and a blow up of the fonts would be very informative.
Biggest congrats on owning a true Grail with a capital "G" and if you ever tire of having two 2915s and want to cut the -3 loose, give me a holler. ;)
    Best regards,
    Tom

    Hi,

Congratulations. I'm impressed and jealous like everyone else.

    I did notice the clasp.
It's the "double" expansion links in the bracelet that I only just learned about. If you get to take some close up shots of the bezel can we please also have some of either side of these links too?
    Thanks, Ian.

Rather interesting thing about that original clasp is how similar it is in the way its designed to the modern Speedmaster clasp, which concertinas in and out in three parts in the same way.

DId you know, that Wally Schirra wore not only the 2998, "the first watch in space" how says the newest replica model from Omega, but he wore also the 2915 :)

Here is the proof, as I think there is no doubt, that the bezel is not black but shiny stainless steel...
    What do you guys think?

    Could also be "no bezel"?

SwAF had all theirs removed from the Lemanias after one had popped off during flight, loose objects in cockpit can be really dangerous...

But from the uniform reflections I would say watch has bezel in metal!

And there is nothing to suggest bezels have ever been removed during space program, right?

Very Nice find!!! - Thx base1000 you are truly a fountain of information and fun for us (lesser) Speedy enthusiasts!

my bezel-less 2915-ish franken from last year, now sold...

It would have been possible for its flight in Mercury, but look at the badges, it is Gemini 6 (with Stafford) and 105.003 has become the official Speedmaster for all Gemini missions. It could be either a missing bezel or a reflexion.
