Hello all,
I've been looking for a chrono for some time and recently came across this Citizen Bullhead 8110 for a (comparatively) decent price, $250.
It won't arrive until next week but per the seller, it works but needs to be serviced which I planned to do anyway.
I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on the 8110? I've done some looking online and have seen some people say their Bullheads were "Frankenwatches". I don't know if the one I bought is all original, I certainly hope so but don't know anything about these so I can't tell by looking at it.
Also, other than eBay does anyone know if a good resource for parts? I may want to replace the pushers and minute/hour hands.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you

It’s supposed to be a flyback. So check on that when you get it.

I dont think fakers will bother with faking a flyback.

Mine says hi

Nice, I like the stainless steel.
Is there any way to determine if it's a flyback by looking at the movement?

It seems the Bullhead has caught a lot of attention ever since Brad Pitt worn one in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Yeah, I think that may also be why there seem to be so many available now, people trying to capitalize on their renewed popularity.
Either way, I saw this one for $250 less than some in worse condition so I bought it. I just don't know much about them.
My watchmaker can have it looking and running like new once he gets it, I'm excited to see how it looks once he's done with it.

P.S. I plan on going as Cliff Booth for Halloween this year since I have the watch lol

$250 sounds reasonable and it's definitely an interesting looking piece.

Massive amount of wear to the gold plating, I'd have waited for a nicer one.

Considering the cost of nicer ones I don't mind the wear on the GP. This isn't going to be "show watch", more like an occasional wear watch.

Maybe the experts can but i dont know how. Just check if it’s a flyback when it arrives.

Well, the seller now claims he can't find the watch. When questioned he said he has a large inventory and it was lost. I looked and he has 22 items for sale. I informed him that he's either a liar or an idiot for losing it.
I should have known better, he had a few negative feedbacks, one of which claimed that after a sale was completed the seller messaged the buyer and basically said either they pay more money or he won't ship the watch.
Oh well, the search continues....

I found another Bullhead and it arrived a few weeks ago. I sent it out to have it serviced and I got it back today 😀
I put it on the Red Monkey Designs strap (not without issues) and it looks great!
Now I'd like to know how to use it.... I know there is no dedicated second hand and the sub dial by 4 o'clock counts the minutes but what does the sub-dial by 7 o'clock do and how do you use it?
Also, is this a dedicated automatic? Meaning, can it be wound or does it strictly wind by movement?
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Have you checked the flyback function?

The 9pm subdial is for the hours.

Thank you, that answers that!
Yes, the flyback works perfectly.
My watchmaker had it for 2 weeks and made sure it worked well before he sent it back.
I'm very happy with it 😀

Figured out the quickset day and date?

I haven't messed with it at all, my watchmaker had set it before returning it to me but, because I'm in a self induced quarantine I'll take the time today to play around with it and see if I can figure it out 😀
