Hey guys, lately I got this great Citizen Diver in compressor style. Size (43mm!) and patina is great, but unfortunatly the crystal has a crack. Since this is a not so common watch, it's hard to find a new or good used one. Do you have any tips, or a manufacturer for vintage crystals? Size of the crystal is a bit over 37,8mm. Thanks and cheers, Nico
Original parts for older Japanese watches can be difficult to obtain. New, OR used. You might have luck if you hunted down the name for the service center in your country, and send it to them. Japan produces far more watches than they can sell at full retail, and they simply don’t want owners of older ones, repairing them. An old one fixed is a new one not sold, it seems. If you are able to succeed getting it repaired, let us know how you did it.
Very nice watch! I own several vintage Citizen, including divers, and you are correct that it is difficult to find correct crystals. I am in the process of having a replacement made here in Portugal for a similar Orient diver. If it works well, I'll let you know.
Thanks guys! Seems in Portugal there is a good place for crystal repros Got a few Enicar crystals from there too. Nico
Still looking for a crystal, any other ideas how to get one? Are there any watchmakers reproducing specific crystals? Thanks Nico!
Found one on Japanese eBay. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p606042801 I don't know if it's allowed here, but let me know if you need help for this one.
Very very cool Citizen! Congrats on that find. The hunt for a crystal will be worth the effort. Good luck!
I have to say, many thanks to @taka . We havn't met or wrote before but he selfless offered his help. Got the crystal today and can't wait to assemble it to the watch. A thousands thanks Taka! I owe you, this forum rocks! Nico
Hello all. I realize this is a bit of an old conversation, but I too have an old Citizen compressor style Diver that I need repaired. The self winding mechanism no longer operates and the day complication does not align properly in its window. I did some research and found that it is a rather rare model as it has a factory straight hour hand instead of the typical Mercedes style. I am desperate to restore this watch to its former glory, but am having a lot of trouble sourcing parts for the 5270 movement. In the picture the rotor has been removed. Any suggestions?
