Is Chrono24 recommended by experienced forum members in regard to selling a vintage speedmaster? Thanks

You'll pay a fee but you'll also get a large platform to potentially sell it.

PS→ Is Jomashop legit?

Jomashop sells authentic watches but they don't come with factory warranty.

Chrono is basically very similar to Gumtree (or Marktplaats) but with some added security.

If you're looking for a quick sell, Chrono24 might not be the best option (depending on the piece ofcourse). Other than that I've sold 2 watches there and it went fine

6.5% fee but relatively lower risk on both ends since they use escrow. Many dealers with abnormally high prices so if a private seller lists something competitively priced it’ll get a lot of attention.

As a buyer last year (Rolex): I would recommend.
Think about the/your potential buyers, who will lower the risks.

I think there's misinformation

I personally don't understand how Chrono24 works even though I've tried to sell but didn't, and bought 2 watches over there

First of all, there isn't always Escrow, on both my transactions, I've either Paypal'ed the seller directly, or was given a bank account and expected to send money to bank account, the reason for the spammy "Did you buy this watch?" emails is because they expect the seller to pay them, instead of taking a cut directly

But to answer the question, to sell, yes it's better than most I guess

But my own TL;DR: Their security to me is just smoke and mirrors and I haven't actually read anything about how they can or do protect sellers or buyers, I assume they just don't

What happens when a seller does a chargeback?

What happens when you pay but the seller runs? Do they pay your loss from their own pockets?

The escrow service generally protects the buyer - your funds aren't released until you have the watch and confirm. But no security for the seller other than you don't have to give your bank details to an unknown party. Also the escrow service is not available in all markets. I sold a watch to a guy in Italy. I shipped it when they said the funds were in escrow but and he wouldn't reply to say he'd received it so Chrono24 wouldn't release the funds. Over 7 days after he received it they finally agreed to release the funds with my proof of delivery. So a bit mixed as a service but is a large marketplace and the fees aren't too bad versus other alternatives. Prefer to trade with other known members of the forum though.
