·This description of a Gallet Multichron 24HR is gibberish, isn't it? I always assumed chrome plating was applied over brass. Calling a chromed watch case "chrome-plated stainless steel" makes it sound like it's stainless steel underneath, not chromed brass with a stainless steel back. I mean, putting a couple of strawberries in a bag of M&Ms doesn't make them chocolate-covered strawberries.
Although the Gallet company faithfully claims these watches are $4500-$5500 collector's items, this particular (now sold) specimen was listed for US$2500 by that well-known bargain-hunter's playground Hodinkee.
